We STRONGLY encourage all coaches to attend Coach Training. Odyssey of the Mind is complicated and coach training helps you navigate through the first year more easily. There are also often new rules that everyone needs to know, even the experienced coaches. If you are a new coach and cannot attend the CTOM Coach Training or want to refer back to the CTOM Coach Training presentation for new coaches, click here. For the handout of the presentation, click here.
We offer Coach Training for new and experienced coaches. In the morning new coaches receive basic coach training and an introduction to Odyssey of the Mind. We often offer a workshop for the experienced coaches on a different topic each year. We provide lunch. After lunch the coaches, new and experienced, meet with their Problem Captain (the Problem Captain is the authority on the Long Term Problem in Connecticut) to discuss the nuances of the problem.
The Problem Captain goes over the Long Term Problem and addresses any questions or concerns about the specifics of that problem. He or she is our resident expert and this is not to be missed! How a given line in the Long Term Problem will be interpreted at competition can make a big difference in the team's performance scores.
